Diets are Temporary

With a goal and end date.  Diets can be helpful to jump start your motivation or to reach a specific athletic goal.  Diets can be to gain or loss "weight".  Weight is lost in terms of muscle, water and fat all depending on your caloric intake, macro breakdown (protein, carb, fat %), cardio and resistance training.

I hope to debunk some popular myths on dieting and hopefully guide you to a lifestyle change that will impart small healthy changes into your life a little at a time that will have a long lasting impact to you and your family.

By the way, I haven't found a "diet" that didn't work!  Every single diet (I can remember at least 10 I've been on) all worked  - from the Grapefruit diet, to the little yellow pills I popped in my early 20's, to Alli to Weight Watchers. Yupper, I lost weight on every one of them.  As soon as I stopped, all that "lost" weight found its way back home again and brough some friends with them!  The key that is missing from every single plan out there is how to deal with the every day emotions that drive us to eat absent mindedly.  Some of the diets such as WW and JC, do try to provide maintenance suggestions on how to eat but I find a significant fault with WW.  WW does allow you to eat anything - which is way cool right?  Wrong - u cud eat a days worth of twinkies and potentially be on WW and lose weight. Whats missing here is that you will end up losing ur lean muscle mass and dropping your metabolism to very low levels.

Let me explain metabolism impacts of yo-yo dietings and why a slightly higher caloric intake is sooo much beter in the long run.  So first, I'm warning you now, this isn't a "diet" to lose 10 pounds this week and go back to your old eating habits.  I'm going to explain your metabolism and how food and exercise impact it.  Knowledge is Power - soak it up!
